MixDisco has grown out of a passion for music and a fascination for flashings lights.

Mike, the founder of MixDisco, has always been into music and lights and set up his first mobile disco as soon as he left school (some 20& years ago). Back in those days, said Mike, We used hand built equipment and second hand gear to get us going. I built most of the electronics for the kit myself in my bedroom and it was fun. Today we have invested heavily in 'state of the art' kit - that is reflected in the type of show we can put on. Mike added We love to put on a show for our clients - it's easy to put on track after track, but most of the clients want us to get their party going for them and we can do this with our range of lights and effects. That's not to say that the music isn't important - on the contrary, we believe that the combination of music and lights helps the clients and their guests have a really great time and that's what matters most to us at MIX

The principal concept behind MixDisco is that we operate for the client. We listen to their needs; we go as far as possible to fulfil every requirement of our client's event. What is most important to us, is that it they enjoy their event, be it a wedding or birthday, engagement or corporate office party.

That is why we have 3 levels of setup to allow us to cover a wide range of customer needs. We feel that we have a great range of kit to offer something for every type of event. Mix has done events from Office Christmas parties (actually in the office buildings) to 80th Birthday parties, Engagements to evening Wedding Receptions and Golden Wedding Anniversaries.

We have worked supporting bands as fill in, as the primary source of entertainment and as simple after dinner background music - In places ranging from large hotel ballrooms to peoples front rooms. Put us under a roof, in a church or under a Marquee - we can turn any venue into a romantic ballroom or pumping night club.

Our extensive collection of music comprises of over 20,000 tracks covering the fifties right thru to the present day. Mike stated We never stop adding music to our collection. If someone asks for a request and if we don't have it, it goes on the list and we trawl the shops etc. looking for it. That's how important the clients are to us. We are constantly buying CD's of new releases etc. but also we look for gaps in our collection and try to fill them. Obviously we can never possess every track, but we take it to heart if we can't find a specific request for a guest.

MixDisco has a purpose built, 'state of the art' PC that is used as the main playback method. It has dual screen capability for ultimate control, the sound is output through a 4 way sound card into a Yamaha mixer to allow for fine tuning of the mixes etc. When played through the 4.4 Kilowatt sound system, the results are breathtaking.

Mike said It is a continual process to refine the sound - we always try new ideas and drive units trying to improve on the last event. Although the sound system has a large output - MIX is ever mindful of the client and always positions the kit in such a way as to allow for a quieter area. It is important that if people want to talk then they can without having to fight with us all night. We have sound pressure measuring equipment to check that there are areas of lower sound pressure.

Of course MixDisco is fully insured and all the equipment it PAT tested on a yearly basis.
